I have a long-running partnership with UK roadhouse Caffeine&Machine, a motoring culture venue near Stratford-on-Avon. As part of their strategy, I’ve been creating design elements, merchandise and other event-based needs around the brand. One of these events was their monthly Japanese night Daikoku Nights. My brief with C&M is always to create clean, unique looks for their discerning audience, and with this there was no exception. I came up with the lucky cat motif, logo script and strong colour palette, then together we developed it through several merchandise items and promotional designs. The merchandise has sold out repeatedly, pointing to some degree of success, both for the event and the design.
